FROM the TV screen to the streets of Australia, real-life cougars are getting ready to go on the prowl.

The rise of the cougar – or woman over 35 with a penchant for young men – has become a world wide phenomenon.Popularised by TV and film (Courtney Cox’s Cougar Town and the upcoming movie, Cougar INC, starring Denise Richards) and a slew of Hollywood’s A-list, including Madonna and Demi Moore, this trend shows no sign of slowing. and Aussie stars are rapidly jumping on the cougar bandwagon. Indiana Tech had to work for it, but eventually put away a scrappy Madonna team 62-56 in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference men’s basketball action.the victory was the fifth straight for the Warriors (16-6, 7-2 WHAC).Tech grabbed an early 33-23 advantage and later stretched its lead to 39-25.however, the Crusaders (5-16, 3-6) chipped away at the margin and trailed just 48-43 with just over seven minutes remaining.Warrior center Rodney Bartholomew responded with a basket on the next possession. but Madonna then took off on an 8-1 streak over the next three minutes to knot the game at 51 with 3:36 remaining.A pair of free throws from Bartholomew and a basket from Clyde McKinney put the Warriors back in front 55-51. but again Madonna answered back.the Crusaders got a three-pointer to cut their deficit to one before Indiana Tech forward Ashton Foster sank five free throws down the stretch to secure the victory.Bartholomew scored 14 points and hauled in eight rebounds to pace the Warriors, while McKinney (13 points), Foster (13 points) and Manny Hendrix (11 points) also contributed.Warrior guard Anthony Johnson dished out a game-high four assists and James Hicks blocked four shots while grabbing seven boards in the victory.Indiana Tech will travel to 14th-ranked Davenport Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.

Madonna’s feature film “W.E.” will not be screening as part of the Festival de Cannes in May, according to IMGlobal, the sales agent that is handling the film.

While the French newspaper Le Parisien/Aujourd’hui said on Thursday that the film would appear at the festival, the Madonna-directed movie, which is currently in post-production, it is not expected to be completed in time for Cannes and is instead aiming for a bow on the fall film circuit.
